Welcome to the fist part of the new series How to create professional blog graphics using free tools. This post is going to be about the best of the free tools Canva.com. At the time of this writing Canva is still invite only, so shoot me an email if you need an invite and we will get you setup. Canva has to be the best and easiest graphic design tool I have used in quite some time. With over thousands of templates and numerous options to choose from, Canva is my go to tool when I need graphics fast. Not all of their templates are free, but you can get most of them for only a $1. You can create graphics for presentations, social media, Facebook cover photos, blog graphics and tons more.
First you will need to go to Canva.com and login. Once you that you will be presented with this screen.
Then use the slider at the top to select which graphic you would like to create.
I chose Pinterest because the blog graphic and pinterest graphic are close in sizes, plus we wanted our image to be formated for pinterest too.
After that you will be presented with a screen that has a bunch of templates to the left and blank sheet to your right. Scroll down the page to view all the different styles.
Quick tip: Most of the graphics at the top are the templates for $1. The truley free ones are at the bottom of the page
Once you decide on a template, just click on the different shapes or text to change their font, size, style, and color. This is where the fun begins.
After you have made all your changes and are happy with the image. Just click the Link and publish button. At this point if you have not chosen a free template they will ask for your credit card info so you can donate your $1. Lastly your new graphic will automatically download to your computer. That is it!!
Here is my finalized graphic for this blog post
